Candidates for Ketamine infusions are individuals who have tried several traditional medications to treat their severe depression with no satisfactory relief.
Patients who have tried ECT (electro-convulsive therapy) and cannot tolerate the side effects may also be appropriate for Ketamine.
Ketamine is not indicated for patients with situational, short term or mild depression. Patients who have certain medical conditions including active psychosis would not be appropriate candidates for Ketamine.
